Cook.
Cook, or “My Fortune Cookie” was placed in God’s care on November 22nd, 2007.
There are no words to explain how completely devastated I am. My heart is broken.

Here is the last picture I took with her. I am grateful for every picture I have.

My favorite Blog about Cook:
I have an entire website dedicated to her daily happenings… but I hope that people know that she’s more than just a horse. I know people might look at her and say she’s ordinary, she’s common, she’s “little”. Like Jack Nicholson said in “As good as it gets”, I watch people walk past her stall, or dismiss the ordinary, little mare and never get they just met the greatest horse alive. And the fact that I get it, makes me feel good, about me.
She is truly, truly the most special thing in my life.
I have to believe that on some level that she knows that.

Crys, I still don’t know what to say with you. But you are in my prayers, and my offer still stands. I’m only an hour away..
Don’t worry, Angel will take care of Cook in heaven. (:

You are the one that gave Cookie a real shot at being loved and knowing what that can be like for horses and humans. She felt it, knew it, and returned the affection and will always.
Those who knew her will miss her.

Cookie was awesome and you were awesome with her. Always remember how much confidence she gave you (I saw it happen) and how well she did with you guiding her. She was one of a kind and will be missed by everyone who ever had the pleasure of knowing her.

I know I just saw you and empathized then, but I saw Tay again for the first time today and I thought of you. I hope you are holding together. Cook was incredibly special and I know that your bond with her was, too. All I can say is that I’m sorry.

Cookie will live on in our memories and always be a part of the Pepperwood community. She was an incredibly special mare that did so much for you and everyone who came in contact with her.

Every day my prayers and thoughts are with you during this time. It’s hard to find the right words to comfort you or give you strength. However you know I love you and loved your baby Cook. I admire both of your strengths and your courage. I will pray for you as I always do.

Crystal,
I can’t say how sorry I am about Cook or how much I empathize. I know Cook was the love of your life. The devotion and love you have for her is so great….take comfort in the fact that she was happy and you gave her the best life possible. I know words sound empty when your grief is so huge but the waves will come less often and it will become easier to tell people about this great horse you had without tears springing to your eyes.
You will be with Cook again some day…..
The Rainbow Bridge
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
when their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
is a place where beloved equines find rest,
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
’til The Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed.
Their bodies have healed with strength imbued.
They trot through the grass without even a care,
’til one day they whinny and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes sharp and alert.
Then all of the sudden one breaks from the herd.
For just at that second, there’s no room for remorse.
As they see each other…one person…one horse.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart
has turned to joy once more in each heart.
They nuzzle with a love that will last forever.
And then, side-by-side, they cross over…together.
