I wans't being defensive as much as being sarcastic. :-P People in my life (and I have had this problem alot...) seem to feel its' their job to give me their opinion on what I do and should do. You're doing what YOU want to do right now, it doesn't involve anyone else, it doesn't affect anyone else. You don't have to explain yourself to anyone. If you've got enough money saved up so that you won't be totally broke, I say keep doing what you're doing. Don't get a "real" job until you must; enjoy what you're doing now while it lasts. Don't focus on what some people say or don't say about what you're doing now, focus on what an amazing opportunity you're getting. These things don't happen to most people, you're very lucky. Focus on that, and ignore all the negative commentary/questions. If you do that you can enjoy the experience that much more and get everything you can out of it.
