Sunday Recovery from Horse Show Hangover

By Crystal at 7:03 am on March 19, 2006 | 2 Love Notes

ok I have new fave song. Walk Away by Kelly Clarkson.

I’m looking for attention
Not another question
Should you stay or should you go?
Well, if you don’t have the answer
Why you still standin’ here?

Ha! that’s about every guy I dated. :-)

Speaking of ex’s, I found out that an ex of mine is having a baby*. This makes me smile. All I could tell Rich was “Really? Interesting.**” I’m really happy for him because I know he will be an excellent father. It does however snap me back to the fact that Rich and I are a lil behind the times in our age group. I still want 2 years before I have my first… daughter. (I’m now convinced I’m destined to have a daughter since T had a son… it’s bizarro world!). I was standing with T in the hallway at work last Friday when a guy asked when I was going to start ‘popping out some’ (I believe, his exact words). I told him I did have a baby. She weighs 1000 lbs. :-)

Well prolly more like 900. whatever.

* Cam, it’s the ex we grew up with that still visits my mom.

**Interesting is my word of the year. I reserve it for situations where I am intrigued or puzzled over ones’ actions… or inactions. I say it prolly 200 times a day. No lie.

Thanks Lauren, for letting me borrow Elvis’s reins for yesterday’s show. Since Cook and E are married, it was the “Something borrowed” that gave us good luck.

Triple Creek Farm show

By Crystal at 11:12 pm on March 18, 2006 | 3 Love Notes

today was the show and everything went very well.  everyone from our farm did really awesome.

Cook was beyond good.  I couldn’t have asked for a better pony.  She was calm and willing (even in the last class when she was very tired).

I have pics but I’m so tired…  soo sooo tired.  Will post tomorrow.

Meanwhile u can have ur fix on pics by looking at the gallery for pics of Liberty, our baby at the barn.

Show Nerves

By Crystal at 7:36 am on March 17, 2006 | 5 Love Notes

So tomorrow is our first show of the season and I’m equal parts excited and equal parts nerves.  EVERYONE is going to be at this show, including all the horse people I know and Richard and his “friend”.

I could puke thinking about it.

It’s not really a big deal showing with just Lauren cause well..  Lauren doesn’t give a rat’s behind about how I do.  We just happen to be in classes in between us cutting up.  when everyone’s there, I feel extreme amounts of pressure not to fail/fall in front of the younger crowd.

I’m prayin to the Horse Gods that my horse is on top of her game.  Please.  Cook.  I need u to be good.  Please.

Thursday

By Crystal at 7:31 am on | Nobody loves me

Elvis went back to the vet and the report is good.  His meds have gone down and he might get un-pirated in about 3 weeks (better than the 2-4 month original prognosis).  hes’ been pretty good on stall rest.

Wed

By Crystal at 6:34 am on March 16, 2006 | 1 Love Note

Today was non-eventful unless u count the fact that I was really grumpy.  I went to bed AGAIN extremely early (the past 2 days I have been in bed before 7).  I didn’t see Cook AGAIN.  My horse prolly has Missing Person posters up in her stall.  Actually, she prolly doesn’t.  She’s too busy eating hay to even notice I’ve been gone for 2 days.

I went to the HHC to see Pikant get schooled but things ran late and so I just got to see him at the trailer.  He’s very sweet.

Thursday and Friday I must prepare for saturday’s show by 1) digging all my show crap out and 2) riding Cook.

I’ve been a GROUCH!  tell me some deep quote!  I like those!

Monday

By Crystal at 6:07 pm on | 5 Love Notes

I had a lesson with Mere. Rode in with Pat and Duly, and Eva and Pharoah. All were good. Cook has been really really tired/slow here lately. She’s in the stall next to Tig/Liberty and this sort of started when Tig was in labor and giving birth. I think she spends all night watching the baby. Every time I see her, her head is in the window, peering into their stall. She’s fascinated. :-P

After work, I went and hopped on Emily’s horse Taylor. I have ridden him before and he rides much like Cook… (he’s TB as well). He was supercool and I had fun. The only funny part was the first time I asked for the canter…. umm… he just trotted faster. :-P (and we had an audience. wouldn’t u know). I was asking nicely!! and harder… asking harder… ok finally I just had to cowboy-kick him and grrrrowl at him. It worked, but was neither pretty nor coordinated on either of our parts. Once we got that first canter tho, he was fine picking it up again (and the other lead). I really like him. Like I said, he’s the female version of Cook so what’s not to like?

Sat at the barn. Literally.

By Crystal at 7:30 am on | Nobody loves me

I lived at the barn yesterday.  Cook asked me when I was leaving, cause she wanted some peace and quiet.  she stayed up with Tig pacing for 3 nights and now both Tig and Cook are pooped.  I rode her and she was extremely good but very tired.  I jumped around 3 baby jumps but she was barely picking up her feet, so I left it alone.  she actually matched me pretty well cause I was pretty exhausted myself after being at the barn on Friday night for the birth.
Today, she might be more open to acting like she has a pulse cause she was stalled overnight.

So anyway yesterday was one of those absolutely perfect days where everything is good.  It was beautiful weather.  Rode horses.  Hung out with Mere.  Did some vet stuff (did I mention I should have been a vet?  I really like that stuff).

Then Rich came up to switch back vehicles and have dinner.  It was cool.  I haven’t driven the jeep yet but I am glad to have it back.  U can park the Jeep ANYWHERE!  The Truck?  u gotta plan ur parking!  so anyway, I am grateful to have a brother that can actually -DO- things.  and he washed it!  and vaccumed!  and replaced the plastic to keep my jeep nice!  cause I do things like put hay in the back of my truck!  :-)
