I’m a bit tired from last night’s adventures although having no Jager really helped me avoid a major hangover.

I went to the barn early this AM and rode. Worked on trying to learn to collect, starting at the walk. We’ll see how this goes and when I get bored of it. Plus Cook gets pissy.

Funny (or prolly not really funny) is the fact that I have exactly 5 days to heal the various blemishes on my body to appear in Cam’s wedding.

One, my leg.  Well, bad news on that.  That’s not healing in 5 days.  There is still a nice little knot and it’s still discolored.  Nice huh?  The actual wedding won’t be bad, as the dress is long.  But my rehearsal dinner dress is just at the knees, so …  le sigh.

Two, my breakouts on my face.  I’m using acne meds all this week.

Three, Cat scratches.  My arm looks like a scratching post.

I fed this AM and then rode Missy. Miss was good but mostly we just trotted up and down the hills in the pasture. There wasn’t anyone out so I didn’t want to be down in the ring by myself. Miss is pretty safe but u never know with horses and since I was alone at the barn riding, I rode in the pasture that is next to the road (someone would hopefully find my body if I had a bad fall.)

I was gonna hop on Cook but she was DIRTY! MAN was she crazy muddy.

So I gave her a way, super deluxe bath instead. While I was bathing her (have I mentioned how she has more hair products than I do?), I found a knot that she was not wanting me to mess with. I kept picking at it (it was on her ninnies) until something came off and guess what it was??? A TICK. NASTY!!! I was like yikes, ugh, ugh! gross! I killed it with a bottle cap. There was still a knot there like I didn’t get the head so I called Mere. Mere cleaned it out and I came back out to look at it with her.  Mere is extremely knowledgable about vet things and I am glad that she was there to look at it.  It was pretty gross.  Cook wasn’t happy about this at all.  In fact, that’s an understatement.  She was pretty upset.

Last night, we went out for Theresa’s birthday.  Gita came over from Charlotte.  Had a blast.

I didn’t really like any of the pics of me.  But Theresa and Gita are very photogenic - here is a pic of them and a pic of the three of us that doesn’t make me shutter.

I rode in the AM today. Cook was pretty good but shes’ stiff and a tad fussy on the right, so we need to do some exercises to get her bending right more.

1. this is a no-brainer. Rich. first of all, he’s the only one that would ever put up with me on a deserted island (or on Survivor or Amazing Race). Also he’s the only person I know that would KNOW what to do to survive. And he wouldnt’ suggest I eat worms or something cause he knows I ain’t eating worms as picky as I am. Unless we landed with A1 sauce. I can eat anything with A1 sauce on it.

2. Superpower… hmm. I don’t know. I would say invisible but it reminds me of that creepy Clay Aiken song. So that’s no good. Hmm. Maybe flying but I’m scared of heights, and I’m thinking that wouldn’t go away. I think a good one would be to able to read people’s minds.

3. ugh one character. I don’t read any books they haven’t made into movies. I’m a barn rat who spends every waking moment at the barn. Or scrapbooking ridiculous amounts of pictures of the horse.

4. Unsolved mysteries… I guess all the big murder cases. Jon Benet. I need not bother saying Laci Peterson, cause we already know who killed her.

so i’m sittin in bed with my leg elevated iced because my leg is fine all day but at night it swells due to gravity pushing the fluid down all day.  nice huh? even nicer is that i’m gonna be hard headed and try to ride tomorrow.  we’ll see.

I’m gonna stay up and watch to see how bad the dateline special with britney spears is.  Sigh.

then i’m going to bed.  I’ve been under the weather lately.

It was Theresa’s birthday yesterday.  I hope she knows (before reading this) how special of a mother, sister, daughter and friend she is.  I’m truly blessed to have her in my life.  I love you kiddo.  May this year be the absolute best.

Nothing much is going on. It’s been raining here for the past couple of days so I have just been going out and seeing Cook. She has just been chillin’.

I’m restless. I’m tired but I’m restless. I know that’s a weird combination but that’s what I am.

I saw most of Brokeback Mountain last night.  I have been wanting to watch it for a while.  Its’ really good.  Well I guess that is obvious considering all the awards that it won.   There are alot of good lines in that movie.

Its’ Sun Morn and I’m recovering. I’m gonna get up and try to be semi-active today to ward off horse show hangover. I will have to take off prolly 3 days of riding to let my leg heal. or maybe I will just ride bareback.

I do want to express gratitude to Kevin. I fell, he told me I was ok, he didn’t let me wallow or get upset. He offered to get on her and get her over it (which of course I wanted… the only thing worse than falling, is falling twice over the same jump). So he got her over it twice and then put me back on her. I went over it (and then later twice back over with Mere at schooling break). Interestingly, there were several refusals over that same jump that I saw, so I don’t feel that Cook was being naughty. It just appeared bigger than it was and I was on her neck.  I was afraid of it as well and that never helps ur horse. They know when you’re hesitant about a jump.. it’s like they say um, Crys is scared, whats up with it?, maybe I should be? I should have asked him to drop the fence down and gotten more confidence over it, but hindsight is 20/20. Oxers are my nemesis anyhow.
Anyway thanks for looking out for me.

this blog is gonna be short cause I’m exhausted. We went to a local show today and it was really fun. had a good time. Cook was good (with the exception that she was fussy about her polos this AM).

Everyone did really well and it was really laid back, no stress.

I do have to mention that I did a dummy thing. I was schooling in the AM and I was trying to go over an oxer. I didn’t have enough momentum, I was nervous about the jump, and I jumped ahead. Cook hesitated (she was like HELLOOO, ur on my neck, Fatty!!) and I slid off of her neck. It was no big deal, it didn’t even hurt but my stupid leg hit the jump and bruised. I was fine, and it didn’t ruin my day, but I did feel like complaining alot about it. :-)

I did call my horse a bad name. Sorry Cook. I didn’t mean it.
I iced it when I got home and it seems I will live. Although I wouldn’t mind if people babied me about it.

Birdie is so needy.

Loren the farrier came out and shoed Cook today. So to recap, Cook has had some shoe problems lately…. problems like keeping them on. So Loren took 1 look and decided to put clips on.

Poor guy. Had to work an hour on her feet. But they look good. Yay Loren.

After work, I went out and rode with Jen and Ash W. it was yay except I was out of sync. We jumped around. There is a gallery of pics titled schooling…
