So I still have sinus problems. I was planning on going home for lunch and taking a nap because I feel like Doo, but Mere called and said that Loren was out to shoe Cook. Ordinarily, she would just pull Cook out but I forgot to leave Loren a check. So I had to go out during lunch and drop it off. It actually turned out to be the bright spot in my day because the farriers are funny as hell and I giggled the whole time, even tho I had a headache.

I’m a lil mad at one of my friends because I’m ALWAYS there for them and this person has been MIA lately.  As anyone who really knows me can tell you, I value loyalty above all else.

I need to ride tomorrow after work.  So anybody reading this wants to, let me know.

Tuesday

By Crystal at 6:57 am on | 5 Love Notes

I took a half day at work today because frankly I needed some recovery time.  Theresa and I were talking about what a hard summer this has been.  It really has been sh*tty.  I have been feeling down due to events in my life rocketing out of control.  I just keep waiting for the days to pass and for things to move on and move forward.  I know this will and has to get better.

However I figured out while I was home that I think I have a sinus infection.  That prolly accounts for some of my poor mood.  I’m dizzy, I have a snot nose, and a really bad headache.

This summer has to get better.  It has to.  It really can’t get any worse.

Sunday Fatigue

By Crystal at 5:42 pm on July 16, 2006 | 1 Love Note

I’m back from G’boro. Things went fine. Cook was good. It was sort of funny when I put her out in the pasture. She called and called for the horse that went with us… like she’s best friends with her now just cause they spent 2 days together.

:-)

I didn’t take any pictures while in Greensboro. Isn’t that crazy? There was too much to do and I really just didn’t have the will to do it.

The good part about my Sunday was that I had a friend that I have known for a long time come visit me. He reminded me how much I am loved. He sings (that gives away who it was), and I always make him sing something before he leaves. Usually I tell him ahead of time so he can practice or learn the words. So since this was a spur of the moment visit, he had to do a ad-hoc request. :-P Good thing “When You’re Mad” is played out on the radio. :-P It’s my current favorite.

It was the best. Thanks.

Greetings from Greensboro.

By Crystal at 2:28 pm on July 15, 2006 | 1 Love Note

I’m beat so this will be short.

Hi.

Everything is good here.  Cook is a lil on the sore side so we did not jump today.  We just flatted in two classes.

Hope all is well.

Thursday AM

By Crystal at 5:57 am on July 13, 2006 | 3 Love Notes

I’m blogging now because this is the only time that I might have before I leave.  My day is just starting and I’m already tired.  and I have a LONG day ahead of me.

With consultation with Mere, I decided not to bath Cook until we are in Greensboro.  She’s just gonna be a sweaty mess in the trailer anyway.

List of things I have to do (mostly for me):

Pick up show clothes at Dry Cleaners.

Pack my stuff.

Pack Cook’s stuff (major undertaking) - vet wrap, feed bucket, fly sheet
Go to Walmart for drinks and last minute stuff.

Oh… and I still have to work and have a last minute lesson.

Wish me luck!  (Not at the show but in making it through today!  :-P  )

Wednesday - Countdown to G’boro

By Crystal at 9:11 pm on July 12, 2006 | 1 Love Note

I started packing all my crap today to take to the show.  There is sooooo much stuff you have to take to an overnight show.   Its’ completely ridiculous.  The mare has more stuff than I do.

I clipped her and she looks pretty good.  I did have some minor bald spots on the back of her legs but that will grow out by Saturday.  (hopefully).  Ashley W. had already pulled her mane for me so I didn’t have to worry about that.  Mere helped me clip her ears… she was pretty bad for that.  The hand twitch no longer works.  She was pretty upset.  Sigh.  Mere got them tho.  She looks awesome.

So I will take a billion pictures at this show.  I’m sure this will be like 8 pages of scrapbooking.  Hopefully.  I will prolly buy the pictures that the professional photographer there will take.  I know they are expensive as all heck, but who knows when we will be back, so I want everything I can get.  Hopefully there will be ONE, just ONE, money shot that I will love and can blow up.  I have 6 jumping rounds (x 12 jumps per round OR 72 total jumps) to get ONE decent picture where she is going over and I look competent.   Let’s hope for the best, people.

I’m really having alot of butterflies about this show.  I want to do well.  It’s not that I care about what color my ribbons are but I really don’t want to disappoint the people who have worked to get me there.  I want them to be proud of me and I want them to be proud of Cook.  I just want to get around everything.  Cook, I LOVE YOU.  PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE, be good.  There is nothing I love in this world more than you.

I forgot to blog over the weekend that Eric sent me a present. The best present ever!

A Dwight Bobblehead Doll. AWESOME! It rocks.

So today I went to the barn at lunchish to ride to see what Cook was doing.

She was fine. we jumped around. no problems. sigh.
She might have been sore, so I am giving her the next two days off.  Well, off from riding.  She has to get clipped and get a bath and drowned in Laser Sheen, My new favorite horse Product.  Don’t tell Cook this, but baby-girl has to get her ears clipped whether she likes it or not.  Sorry.  Life Sucks.

Music Mood:

acoustic. I have it by Jeffrey Gaines, Theresa.

In your eyes,

The light, the heat,

I am complete.

I see the doorways to a 1000 churches,

The resolution

To all my fruitless searches.

…In your eyes.

Thanks for everyone who posted yesterday. Appreciate it. Cook must have listened. and thanks, kathy for being supportive when I had a meltdown in the tack room today…. before even riding, might I add…  I told Kathy, I just couldn’t take it, if Cook had issues again.

OK People! Freaking out here. Need encouragement.

By Crystal at 8:03 pm on July 10, 2006 | 6 Love Notes

Rode Cook today.

She was b-a-d.

We are going to Greensboro on Friday for a 3 day horse show.

Cook + Bad at Home = Bad at Show = Crystal very mad.

Mere tried to be very encouraging.  She said it was just prolly she was mad that she wasn’t turned out when all her friends (Taylor and Linky) were.  She stayed in because I was coming to ride her.

Whatever it is, Cook better get with the program.  I love that mare with all my heart….  but don’t play, Cook.  I’m not in the mood for it.

So of course my avid readers want to know what she was doing.  Um, let’s see.

Bucking after the jump… actually…  bucking after ALL the jumps.   Kicking out.  Doing her up and down at the canter pop-ups.  Holding her head high like ‘crazy mare’ high.  oh and then!!  last 2 jumps…  completely TAKING OVER and charging them.  Taking over is just like her charging and jumping without listening to anything ur doing or saying.  I wasn’t left behind… but I essentially was just being dragged over a jump, cause she was just doing her own thing.

So we gave up.  tried to end on a decent, not being dragged around, note.  Like just CANTERING regularly.  Um, no.  Crazy.  Ok, try to just trot around.  Um, no.  Crazy.  Let’s just pitch a fit, WHY DON’T WE, YOU BRATTY MARE!

kathy suggested I try a gelding.  Geez, I’m not that desparate yet.  I have only loved 1 gelding - Elvis.  and thats only cause he’s the man.

I left Kevin 3 messages in a row on his phone.

1st message - “My horse is bad.  U fix”  (really means - You fix NOW or I will cry)
2nd message - “My horse is bad.  U fix now.” (really means - You fix NOW or YOU will be riding her in G’boro, dealing with her crap!)
3rd message - “Don’t tell me that she will be fine for Greensboro.  My horse has no problem with acting like a d*mn fool away from home.  (ALA Buckhorn, the HHC, 1st time at Triton, Morning of the Rocky Mount Show).”

(really means - I know you’re a guy and therefore, comforting words are hard to come by, but please.  Think of something!)

So anyway.  How about some comments to Cook?

Saturday

By Crystal at 5:33 pm on July 8, 2006 | Nobody loves me

lesson on cook, hacked Lincoln out later on that afternoon.

Cook was a lil fussy during the lesson. Not a big deal. Lincoln was good. I have been working hard, no stirrup work and double posting.

Trying to stay busy. Reminds me of an Anna Nalick lyric.

Takes all of my strength to be stable.

Thanks for everyone for checking on me during my crappy week, last week.  Sometimes I’m surprised at the people who keep up with this blog… that don’t regularly post but check in when I’m down.  Thanks, AW.  Things WILL be fine.
