Quote of the Day:

(on me asking Eric to pick up my dry cleaning, let me borrow his camera, help me pack for the show, make dinner….)

“You’re SOOOO low maintenance!”

……………………………………………………..

“He’s her McDreamy!”

Sometimes people do small things for you and it makes all the difference in the world. Last night, I was a lil stressed and Missy’s face was still unclipped. I got off of work late because I had computer problems, and I dropped by the hospital to bring Mere some dinner and visit. I was suppposed to meet Susan and Emily at the barn to get Missy’s face and ears done. I was stressing out. I called out there and Susan was already clipping Missy for me. You have no idea what a relief that is.

Thanks so much!

update on caddie

By Crystal at 7:30 pm on November 28, 2006 | 2 Love Notes

so after an injection of Adequan, a pain med and an inflammation med, she seems to be better.  She has been eating ALOT better and she’s getting up better.  I’m glad that I went and I’m glad I didn’t put her down yet.  The vet said we would push hard to give her a final chance.

So its’ up to her.

Meanwhile Birdie (or Sausage as she’s known at the barn) is fine.

Busy Sunday

By Crystal at 9:56 pm on November 26, 2006 | 7 Love Notes

I am tired tired tired. was busy today.

First thing, I clipped Missy. She hadn’t been body clipped in a long time and is sensitive about some parts, so I was cautious about how she was gonna be. I planned on doing this over a series of days, doing what I can each day. Anyway, she was completely, awesomely behaved. She mostly stood around while I made her naked. :-) In the pictures, you can see the clipper marks some, but those will fade after a couple of days of hair growth. I think she looks pretty good for me having only clipped one horse before. I didn’t finish all her face and all her legs - I need to borrow smaller, better clippers for those areas. But I am so pleased with how she looks - and I’m excited to see how she will look all braided up.

That’s the neat thing about horses - they are constantly surprising you. I know that Missy trusts me and tolerates me but it did re-enforce my feelings on that for me to clip her with no trouble.

A huge thanks to Rachel Cervone for helping me with the clipping. She held Miss’s head during parts and fed her treats.

I hacked Missy out - we worked on transitions again. We only have one transition problem - canter to trot. It’s not a “problem” - it’s just that it’s ugly. I’m trying to transition nicely from the canter to a collected trot.

I’m staying flat ALL week. I did jump 2 tiny, itty bitty jumps today - I just had to. :-) Peer pressure.

Eric took a ton of pics. There is a gallery folder but here are the shots I really liked.

I couldn’t resist popping over the crossrail. I like this pic cause I like the effort she is giving over a cross rail. She’s so cute.

Alright. All for tonight. Have a good week guys.

Saturday.

By Crystal at 9:24 pm on November 25, 2006 | 2 Love Notes

Today was one of those rare, fabulous days. The weather was beautiful and the barn was great.

I rode Cook first and she was just great. Listening soooo well. She did have one kick out but that was ok. I can settle for 1 after months of not being able to canter at all. We worked ALOT today on the bit. She has it down. We could have seriously kicked some butt if we had been in a flat class today. I made her wear her little jumper hat - she was so cute! She must have brought her A game cause of the hat. :-)

I hopped on Miss second and she was lovely. We are working on our downward transitions. This is the second day of the new bit and I think I like it. We’ll see. I need to go to the barn and clip her but I’m also very tired. It looks like Very Tired is gonna win out today. I will clip tomorrow.

Here is a very cute pic in a jumper hoodie thing. She’s my jumper pony!

Yes… that is a big cheesy grin on my face.  I had fun today.

Pick Me. Choose Me. Love Me.

By Crystal at 8:56 pm on November 24, 2006 | 2 Love Notes

So yes, I’m still watching Season 2 of Grey’s. I just finished watching that speech. LOVED IT.

“I lied. I’m not out of this relationship, I’m in. I’m so in, it’s humiliating. So here I am, begging.” “I love you.” “So pick me. Choose me. Love me.”

Sadly, I know a horse who passed away yesterday. Alot of my barn friends know Mimi, the mini (click here to see her page) that visits our farm. Mimi passed away from colic at her home and will be greatly missed. For those who want to send Elise an email, please contact me and I will tell you her email address. It would be really great for you to send her an email letting her know your sympathies.

We went to Elise’s house and helped say goodbye to Mimi.

I took Caddie to the vet today because she has gone downhill very significantly. I was doing pretty well until the vet came in and looked at his sheet and said “so shes gone downhill?” Then I just burst out crying. and crying pretty hard. I could barely get anything out after that. What made it even worse was that Caddie was looking up at me, shivering with fear and tried to cuddle in my chest, hiding. The vet didn’t sugarcoat anything but he said we could try some different meds and see if there is a response …. we go back in a week. He also thinks there might be something else like cancer or something that blood test won’t pick up… so I got some new (costly) meds and we will see. I know that the time to let her go is coming near, but I just can’t yet.

I had lunch with Meredith and we talked about Mimi. I told her that although I handle things like that (and other emergencies) quite well… that I know I will not be as sane when the time comes for Cook. It upsets me to even discuss it. I will never be the same if anything happens to Cook.

I cried for Caddie, cried for Mimi, cried for the knowledge that we love our animals but they aren’t promised to us very long.

On brighter notes, I rode today! wow! after a bunch of days off due to sickness and weather. Miss was pretty good, tried a new bit on her. I will ride her again in it tomorrow and see how it does on day 2.
After riding Miss, I wanted to hop on Cook, but I didn’t feel like grooming and tacking and all that…. I grabbed Cook out of the pasture, hooked on some lead ropes as reins and rode her bareback while barn friends rode. I like riding her in a halter and bareback. she’s so ultra- responsive. I was playing around in the ring, making her do side passes and pivot on her forehand…. all in a halter… she’s so awesome!

better late than never.

By Crystal at 6:19 pm on November 23, 2006 | Nobody loves me

I gave into theresa and watched the first seasons of Grey’s Anatomy.

and I love it.

Another show I will be addicted to.  I’m in the middle of season 2 right now and I think although I am not finished, I will go ahead and pick up season 3 and start watching the current episodes.

and predictably, I love McDreamy.  I got a frown at the barn for saying that today.  Isn’t that predictable tho to the people who know me?  I was rooting for Big all the way during Sex and the City.

Today was Thanksgiving and I stayed home.  By myself.

It was awesome.  I went to the barn, did horsey things (no riding or stalls - the weather was bad and I’m still recovering from the Sinus Infection of Death) but I just hung out and did some little things to help Emily out.  Then I came home and NAPPED.  Yes folks… took a rest!  I watched Grey’s Anatomy (see above) and rested.  Then I went back out to the barn and threw food.  Now I’m blogging.  Then I will go back to being LAZY.  lazy and loving it!  I needed this!

I talked to Rich earlier and apologized for not coming home.  He said that he wanted to cook next year and be together and I told him I would…  but I just needed the day off.  My mom and sister flew to Connecticut to see my aunt so I didn’t have to worry about my mom freaking out about me not coming home for the holidays.

Ok, back to regular schedule nothing-ness….

monday.

By Crystal at 8:09 pm on November 20, 2006 | 1 Love Note

went to the doc first thing this morning.

actually first thing this morning I was in bed while my phone was ringing off the hook.  I had a really bad night of sleeping (and by sleeping, I mean that in the loosest sense possible.  “trying” to sleep is more like it. )

so anyway long story short, I have a bad sinus infection.  nice.  I guess it could be worse - this could be thanksgiving weekend.

anyway, hope all is well with everyone else.
