I rushed out of work today because it’s supposed to rain the next 2…  when I got to the barn, I was gonna hop on Cook but she was ridden yesterday by Ashley W, and will prolly be ridden in a lesson this weekend, so I decided not to push it.

In the end, I decided to hop on Miss bareback which is not something she’s all that used to.  She was good and it was noneventful.  She’s not as good at it as Cook is, but it’s not really a fair comparison because I ride Cook bareback all the time.  She will get better over time with it.  That is what happened with Cook - she just got used to it.

Tomorrow will rain and I’m off from the barn…. which brings to me what I will be doing tomorrow…. LAUNDRY.

I currently am scrouging for things to wear because I have no clean clothes.  I have no excuse except the fact I’m lazy and I hate doing it.  I don’t think I have done laundry in probably 1.5 ~ 2 weeks.

Good thing I have alot of underwear and socks.

stil way beautiful weather here.  I was still sore but I hopped on 2 anyway… and ironically I feel better.  I think it re-stretched out my muscles.  So perhaps I should have ridden on monday  :-)

on another subject, I have got to drop some weight.  I have no room to talk about Cook - we both put weight on over the winter.  We both are McFatties.  I hope with increased ride time, drinking lots more water and making healthier eating choices may drop some of it off… but honestly those steps will prolly just keep me from gaining MORE.  I prolly will have to d-i-e-t.  Which I hate.  Dread.  Despise.

Le sigh.

Cook was disgusting today.  She had caked mud all over herself.  Add this to the 3 months with no bath due to winter… and u get one disgusting pony.  I gave her a bath.  She is 80% clean.  As I was hosing the shampoo off, there was still clay brown in the water so I didn’t get everything.  That would have taken multiple shampooing and Mom didn’t have time for all of that.

had a wonderful day.  all weekends should be like this….

riding was awesome.  I had a lesson on Miss.  All I can say is wow.

Miss was fantastic.  I don’t often blog about my trainer but Meredith can definitely get me to trust in myself and Miss and do things that no one else could get me to do.  She inspires courage in me with Miss.  What is great about our relationship is that she doesn’t push me into a meltdown (which these days is alot easier than it used to be).  I honestly cannot remember a single time we have ever been training and I leave in a heaping mess.  This isn’t to say I don’t have bad days or misbehaving ponies…  it’s just that Meredith takes it in stride.  She realizes I’m a work in progress.
(she also knows that sometimes the words that come out of her mouth, go into my ear, process into my brain, brain makes muscles react…  sometimes there is a 10 minute delay in all of that….   :cool  )

I am very much patting myself on the back because very often, I don’t like to “work” in front of an audience of people I know…  I get nervous if I mess up, then I will look like a jerk… or at least a jerk that can’t ride.  But today I had 5 pairs of barn eyes on me… and I didn’t even think about it.  Today I swallowed any negative feelings I had (insecurity, cowardness), tucked it away, looked past the jump and trusted in Miss.
I’m having fun again.

The best part was Lauren had awesome timing and stopped by my barn to see me go over a few….  her compliments mean alot to me….

Afterwards, I went to a scrapbooking party.  Fun times.  Didn’t get much done cause I talked the whole time….

THEN to top off my weekend, Mere left me a way nice message telling me how well I did today and how great Miss looked.

I can’t WAIT for my show season to start.

I don’t have the energy to write into detail what a wonderful day I had.  I rode a TON.  My whole body hurts.  I am spending the rest of the night with Ben Gay and friends, all wrappled under my electric blanket, which serves as a giant heating pad.

All I have to say is that all the horses I rode today were just… lovely.  Could not ask for better behavior!

Off to bed, to do barn and ride again in the AM… given that my body doesn’t crumble first.

ugh.  my plans aren’t turning out like I wanted them to.  Spring shots are tomorrow so there is no use in taking off to ride (since horses are sore after spring shots.)

I went after work today and lunged cook and worked with her on the ground some.  She is SO good.  She will make an excellent, excellent showmanship show.  I want her to be great for some kid at the State Fair this year.  way good.

not much going on. I’m pretty busy at work so I was glad to be able to go out at lunch and catch a quick ride on Miss. Miss hadn’t been work in over a week so I expected she would be pretty fresh. She was - but she was good. We cantered a bunch and I just let her go and get it out. It was a fun ride and a welcome break from the job. The weather is excellent the next couple of days so I am hoping to be able to get out again or ride after work. I need to get them on a more regular schedule now that daylight and cold aren’t factors.

Here is a pic of Cook in the pasture eating hay. Look how round and healthy she looks! I was able to put weight ON her this winter.
