birdie at 6 weeks in my bed…

birdie today, 7 years later..

Not much has changed.

kathy came out and we rode Miss and Cook. It was good of her to come out because I needed to get both ridden and with my mom there, it has been hard to ride one, much less 2.

kathy started out on miss, cause I wanted to start out on Cook, to see if she was lame. Miss did fine for Kathy.

Cook is still off. She trots out fine, but her canter is off. I am going to start from ground zero and try a few things to see if there is any differences, where I can pinpoint whether this is muscular or bone… We’ll see and I’ll update methods and progress.

I am also thinking of calling out the vet that took care of her abscess and seeing what she says about it.

Southern Pines specialist is another option.

mom and ariana have been up so I have just been busy caring for them. I am gonna try and ride tonight. we’ll see.

I’m a little down in the dumps so comment and tell me a good quote or joke or something. good horseys quotes always cheer me up. :bay

Sat I had 2 lessons with Meredith … She came to the farm and I did Missy in a private, working on courses. That went well and she video-ed tapes some courses which is extremely helpful. When I reviewed the tape it looks pretty good - what am I worried about?!!? It gives me even more confidence. We reviewed the tape together too and it helps us work on a strategy going forward. My issue isn’t the speed of Missy so I don’t need to hold her back - that shows on the video. So it gave us some good tips going forward.

Then I went to the new barn and rode in a lesson with Katie and Susan (on their horses) on Elvis. Elvis was ultra cool as usual. I had to hurry out of there because I went to Fayetteville to catch my sister’s softball game. That was comical … I have a few pictures that I will post later. They ended losing but at least I got to see a game.

I have alot of pictures to download and get to people… I’ll post when they’re up. Meanwhile I’m stealing someone’s internet so I should get off here.

I’ve decided to go with DSL and have it installed at the house. I can’t stand not being able to surf 24/7. :-)

I hopped on Cook today and I dont’ know what to say. Today was the first day I used a saddle and bridle on her. We tried to canter a little bit but it was pretty crappy. I can’t tell if she is being naughty or if she is hurt. I guess it’s too early to tell. Kathy got me some SMB for my birthday and on the label it says they are good for recovering from injury - horses and for arthritic horses… both of which Cook is. So I am going to make her wear her boots and keep trotting trotting trotting…. and build back up some muscles… and then try to canter again.

I don’t know if I will ever get my horse back.

I’m really glad today is the start of the weekend. My jeep sort of acted funny yesterday so i have no clue if that is about to go or what. At least I have over the weekend to see what the deal is. I am supposed to go to Fayetteville to see my sister play ball… with my jeep acting up I am not sure if that is a good idea or a bad one… I really do not want to get stuck somewhere in between. Richard is supposed to be coming up sometime soon and my mom is coming up on Sunday because she has a doctor’s appt on Monday.

We’ll see.

I rode in a lesson with Meredith, along with my favorite barn mate, rachel… I really love riding with Rachel. I know shes’ only like 13 but she’s nice and she’s encouraging. See? Even at 13, you can be encouraging.

So Mere bought things to “scare” up the jumps, flags and flowers and crap. And raised them. LMAO.

I had a really good time.

So good parts:

I made it over all the jumps. Even one where I thought she was hesitating over the first time. I kicked her and made her do it. So that was good.

I didn’t get outjumped or jumped loose. Even tho one jump… I felt like I was in the air for like 10 SECONDS… I love Meredith. I said “Did you see how high she jumped that?” Meredith: “uh huh. (with a sly little smile)”

I didn’t die on the picnic table. I hate that jump.

We ended on a good line.

Bad Parts.

She was a little high and excited. BUT, to be fair, she hadn’t been ridden since Saturday, and we were jumping higher than…. actually more than I ever have on course. (my highest jumps have been singles.)

The corners… ugh! our nemisis.

I’m happy. I am gonna call Mere back and tell her it will get better, look better. I just have to keep working.

I need to video my courses so I can see it.
