Cook is LESS gimpy. Or I should say… less dramatic about her gimpiness. She’s still on stall rest. I have been turning Missy out during the day in order for her to have some pasture time, and be a calming agent for Cook at night. I hope Cook just stung herself and doesn’t have an abscess or something that will take months to heal.

Had a lesson with Shep on Elvis yesterday. Part of it was videotaped so that was good for me to see myself. I am actually quite happy with how I look. I’m pretty quiet over the fences and we are going along pretty well. Elvis got a bit strong but he hadn’t been jumped in a while, so it was ok.

I did wish Miss was out. I always like riding the Miss.

Mere and I rode bareback down to the ring to set up a jumping chute for Missy. (cook and patty - Mere on Cook ’cause she has more ‘hops’ than me and Cook wouldn’t stand still for me to get on her).

Someone should have videotaped us trying to open the ring gate. That could have been on America’s Funniest Home Videos. Cook was just plain un-cooperative (a trail class participant she is NOT) and I only had one lead rope steering Patty, so it was comical. Of course, Mere finally got it. She doesn’t give up.

So when we hopped down, and started on the chute, Cook and Patty were loose, eating ring grass. Cook was lame. I said something to Mere, but Cook seemed ok the rest of the time. However when I was hand-walking her up from the ring, I noticed she was lame lame.

*Sigh*

Front left. Not sure if she just stung herself somehow, or if she is brewing an abscess.

Wrapped in standings and put on stall rest. Made Missy stay in with her to keep her calm.

We’ll see.

Had a lesson on Missy. went well. Miss was good.

worked on courses… didn’t single-school jumps, just went into course work like we would have to at a show. Mere was complimentary. I was trying hard. I have gained alot of confidence back over fences. So I’m happy.

I’m tired and out of shape. really need to drop some weight.

At least I slept well last night.

For the first time, I went to the new barn at night and rode under the lights. It was… wow! The lights are awesome… I was wondering a little how it would be and if Elvis would be a little spooky (he had a past eye injury) but the lights there are powerful and it pretty much was like riding in the daylight. It was even lit enough to jump.

So I had another impromptu lesson with Meredith. Really good stuff. I got to work on alot of jump eq on just concentrating on myself, ’cause Elvis is awesome. We basically did a continuation of the lesson from Sunday, working on getting the lead over the fence. I managed to get all my leads. So yay.

Funny exchange (after I have cantered around the ring):

M: “ok, go around again and now SIT your canter!”

C: “um…. that was my ’sitting-the-canter’.”

I’m a big faker on sitting. I hate doing it, ’cause I suck at it, but apparently I can’t fool Mere.
