Cook, or “My Fortune Cookie” was placed in God’s care on November 22nd, 2007.

There are no words to explain how completely devastated I am. My heart is broken.

I have an entire website dedicated to her daily happenings… but I hope that people know that she’s more than just a horse. I know people might look at her and say she’s ordinary, she’s common, she’s “little”. Like Jack Nicholson said in “As good as it gets”, I watch people walk past her stall, or dismiss the ordinary, little mare and never get they just met the greatest horse alive. And the fact that I get it, makes me feel good, about me.

She is truly, truly the most special thing in my life.

I have to believe that on some level that she knows that.

I have 6 months of video that I never download because my home PC was screwed up.

Ugh.

So I spent the better part of yesterday, downloading and cutting up all this video.  Hours and hours.

So everyone I have videotaped will be happy.  I’m a little disappointed that I don’t have any video of me on Miss.  oh well.

I’m not going home for Thanksgiving.  2nd year in a row.  Does anyone else think its sad that I refuse to go home because there is too much drama at home?

I have a few friends (actually all the major ones, T, M, S) who will be here and at some point I will go mooch off their dinners.  It’s supposed to rain on T-day which prolly means no riding, which is crappy, but what can you do?

Had a Shep lesson on Sunday on Elvis.  Elvis hadn’t been jumped… well since I jumped him last.  thankfully tho, he’s smart and a good boy and no problems ensued.

shep works the crap out of you.  I was tired and out of breath, and we hadn’t even cantered on the flat yet! 

eric came and videoed the lesson.  There was a single during coursework, we had to canter to.  (singles are sometimes hard to get spots to…).  I totally ate it the first two times.  even funnier, watching it back on video.  Ack!  Don’t you hate it when ur course is perfectly nice and then you have one jump that u totally “ugh” on?

I like Shep.  he’s kind and very positive.  I’m now accepting of their (him and mere)’s positive comments and stopped acting like an abused puppy.  For a while there, I was like WOW, SOMEONE actually LIKES my riding!!

I’m pretty lucky.  I have alot of access to nice, knows-their-stuff, professionals.  what’s cool about my situation is that the professionals all have a different area of expertise - all around, hunters, dressage, jumping…. 

so its my first official-ish day of being laid off. I think I’m supposed to be less busy.

I got up this AM, met Nikki at the barn. She has two horses - Junior and Sunshine. Junior was getting some horsey body massage type thingy done to him, and Sunshine tagged along for her to ride in the ring.

We rode Miss and Sunshine. Miss was full of herself and quite a handful. I felt bad cause she has been going really well the last few months, but didn’t show it today. I haven’t had enough hack days on her. Not to mention, right before pulling her out of the pasture, her and Cook decided to run around like bats outta hell. Always nice to bring your horse in huffing and puffing from playing ‘Kentucky Derby’ with the thoroughbred outside. ugh! Horses!

I got to hop on Sunshine a little bit. She was good and is a nice mover, easy to get on the bit. Nikki has brought her a long way. It was her first time in a ring and her first time over big(ger) jumps. She was brave and did well.

Then we got to see the Massage Guy in action. He seemed to really help Junior but time will tell. If it helps Junior, I might think about doing it for Cook. Maybe he can fix her canter.

So I finished up the barn, came home and the day is done. I had a good time, Nikki.

I have a crush on a BOY. :-) :-) :-)

It’s not love yet… and I’m trying to be careful not to put my heart into it. I don’t fall easily, but when I do, I fall hard.

I have been a little out of touch because I have had so much stuff going on.  As most of you guys know, I got laid off of my job.  I really have no idea what I am going to do - except to ride ponies for 2 months.  I am going to take Nov and Dec off and then job hunt in January.  All I really know for sure is that I plan on riding Miss and Cook and taking care of them.

It was hard leaving last Thursday.  Theresa cried, I cried and I couldn’t talk to my boss.  Maureen is like a sister to me and it just breaks my heart that I won’t talk to her every day.  We have a very similar sense of humor, so every day we have a phone call in which we were cracking up.

Chat more later.  I’m excited that I finally got the DSL to work here at home.  Or I should say that Eric finally came up and got the DSL working.
