my roommate left today to go back home. I cried (several times actually). I will miss her. its’ funny how quickly you can bond with people and get used to having them around. I wanted her to stay, but I know it was her time to go back.
afterwards, went to the barn and worked on Ami. He didn’t look as good today as he has… he’s hitting his ankles together when trotting. I think we are going to have to work on his shoe-ing. So right now he’s in boots full time to prevent the rubbing. We’ll see. I did hop on him today. That was exciting. He’s been dead quiet the past 3 days with me on him. However, today there was a lesson going on in the ring, and it made him tense. Every time the horse came near us, he would get a little spooky and wanted to *go*… somewhere. He only tried once, but I was prepared and it went nowhere. J did call out “nice save”. He chewed on the bit alot today and pulled on the reins… which is his sign to me that he’s unsure and nervous. I walked around as long as I could stand it and got off.
OH! and for the 2nd day in a row, AMI decides the best way to enter the dressage ring is to step over the ring (while I’m getting on). retard!!
Didn’t do much else at the barn - was tired.
had a great day at the barn, rode my own horse…
then fun at dinner.
can’t complain.
this past week has been kind of crappy… but today made up for it.
had a good day.
Ami was a rock star under saddle again. It feels good to be on him.
today I sat on my own horse and walked him around.
very yay for me.
I could have waited for the boys and put them on first but I didn’t want to. The way I looked at it, if he acted up, what more could they have done than me… besides maybe hang on longer. So I grabbed Lindsey (who has been a little Godsend) and told her I needed help. She came over and saw Ami tacked up…. me putting on my helmet.
L: “What are you doing? Ur getting on?? Do J and B know?!?!”
Me: “No. It’s my horse.”
I did choose to do this while they were both occupied and couldn’t give an opinion. B ended up watching from the indoor arena but it was too far away to yell.
Anyhow he was awesome. I had Lindsey leadline me around the first lap just to make sure he was ok.
We lost the line, went around a few times and called it quits.
Tomorrow, we do more of that.
10 minutes of hand walking and 2 minutes of trotting on the lunge.
No major freak-outs. He was good.
long day.
poured on us when we were loading.
trip back wasn’t too terrible.
Now I’m home and ready to hit the bed.
